This is an attractive and handy guide to the follies and strange buildings, curious tales and unusual people in south and west Yorkshire. The history of the construction of the buildings is clearly documented, and the number of buildings incorporating foreign influences is one of the book‘s many surprises. Maps and lists of ocal places of interest are particularly useful, with specific instructrions for access. From Ivanhoe‘s castle to the Tunnellers‘ Monument, mills, factories, and obelisks, this guided tour of local curiosities makes fascinating reading and provides comprehensive coverage of the renowned and beautiful landmarks in this part of the country. A handy and attractive book, including numerous original photographs that admirably complement the higgly informative and accessible text.
